Teaching & Speaking

I have a new book out! I’ll be reading from Little Prayers, my debut poetry collection, around the Bay Area (and beyond) this spring. Check back in for more reading dates.

Since 2006, I have taught composition and creative writing to the fine students at Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Before that, I taught at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where I earned my MFA in poetry; at Berkeley Extension; at the University of Oslo in Oslo, Norway; and in numerous elementary, middle, and high school settings. In a previous life, I directed education programs for the Oregon Council for Humanities, where I directed a Clemente Course in the Humanities for low-income adults in Portland.

I also read and speak regularly around the Bay Area.
