Summer Shorts:
14 Flash Prompts in 14 Days
With Rachel Sarah at Left Margin Lit!
This group offers writing inspiration and motivation at the end of the summer. “Flash” is just what it sounds like—you can write it in a flash. Some people call these “short-shorts” or “micro stories.” What about prose poems? Your choice. Come write one page a day (350 words or fewer) in a supportive community.
On September 19th, you’ll come up with a concrete writing goal for the following two weeks, whether it’s to write 14 short shorts, prose poems, or hybrid forms. You could even commit to 14 paragraphs of a short story or the novel you’ve been struggling to finish.
Susie and Rachel will post a daily prompt on Slack to motivate you and help you get words down on the page or screen. Sharing is optional but encouraged!
September 19-October 2, 2022.
$50. Sign up HERE!

TEACHING
I teach composition and creative writing to the fine students at Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Before that, I taught at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where I earned my MFA in poetry; at Berkeley Extension; at the University of Oslo in Oslo, Norway; and in numerous elementary, middle, and high school settings. In a previous life, I directed education programs for the Oregon Council for Humanities, where I directed a Clemente Course in the Humanities for low-income adults in Portland.
I also read and speak regularly around the Bay Area.
