Write with Me at the End of Summer

I’m excited to be running year four of LATE SUMMER SHORTS, a writing-prompts intensive at Left Margin Lit with my dear friend and teaching buddy Rachel Sarah.

Here’s what I love about this intensive online course:

  • The prompts work for all genres
  • The prompts are like inspiring little nuggets that get your creative butt in the chair, and they’re DELIVERED TO YOU LIKE A TAKEOUT CURRY, which is hands down my most preferred method of being inspired (or fed)
  • It’s asynchronous, so you can work from any time zone
  • There is always a lovely little community that forms in a short time frame, with returning writers and new writers, and all are welcome and encouraged
  • It’s affordable—$5/prompt, people!

Here’s the more formal description:

This group offers writing inspiration and motivation in that wonderful time between summer and fall. “Flash” is just what it sounds like—you can write it in a flash. Some people call these “short-shorts” or “micro-stories.” What about prose poems? Your choice. Come write one page a day (350 words or fewer) in a supportive online community. The class is asynchronous, so you can join from any time zone and any location!   On September 8th, you’ll come up with a concrete writing goal for the following 10 days, whether it’s to draft 10 short shorts, prose poems, or hybrid forms. You could even commit to 10 paragraphs of a short story or the novel you’ve been struggling to finish. Prompts will focus on different aspects of craft and voice, and are designed to challenge and motivate—and be fun.
